Twenty
centuries have passed since the moment of God’s Incarnation.
The Heavens drew closer to mankind and the angels and shepherds glorified
the Creator, who for us men and for our
salvation came down from on high. Today
when we celebrate the jubilee of this greatest event in the history of mankind,
let us rejoice in spirit, be filled with wisdom and bring worthy gifts to the
Divine Child: frankincense of sweet prayers, myrrh of the purity of our lives,
and the gold of our strong and pure faith, which is purified in the crucible of
fasting and abstinence. And then God himself will
wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall
there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the former things have
passed away. (Rev.
21:4) And nothing can
darken the joy of this celebration and affirmation of the Christian faith.
God’s
joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full
(John 15:11).
With love in our Lord, assuming the image of a servant
